Because You Don’t Need the Baggage Anymore!

“He Who Would Travel Happily, Must Travel Light.”– Antoine de St. Exupery
“Clearing Space” is like creating a landing pad for your goals. While a happy and successful life is about adding those things that we truly want more of, like goals, hobbies and personal interests, it’s also about removing sources of stress. This way, we can actually enjoy more peaceful days that are free of turmoil and uneccessary drama too.
It’s hard to focus on new and exciting ambitions when our lives are crowded with unwanted stuff. Sometimes a thorough clean-up is in order such that you have room for more of the good you really want. As you rid your life of stressors, you’ll also create the space needed for your desires to show up, as well as gain the much needed time and personal energy to move forward successfully.
Here’s the truth, we’ve all learned to tolerate more than our fair share of stress. Too many things leave us feeling depleted and therefore less effective in life. Look around you now. What leaves you drained or exhausted? Is it other people’s behavior, past obligations, unmet needs, clutter, disorganization, crossed boundaries or incomplete projects?
What are you putting up with or tolerating?
A wise friend once said to me, “Christen, you can carry that weight for 1,000 more miles, or you can just lay it down.” What a good reminder for me to put the heavy baggage down and travel much more lightly.
Coaching Tip: Make a list. Please take a couple of minutes this month to write down the situations that drain or frustrate you. As you think of more items, add them to your list. The purpose of this exercise is to bring those things to your awareness so that you can start handling, eliminating or resolving them.
The goal is to help you return to your natural state of comfort and ease. And once these challenges are defined, you can create an action plan to systematically rid your life of what no longer serves or supports you
And Remember, “No” is a full sentence. ”No” is not a dirty word. June is “Self-Care Month”. Sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself is to just say “No!”
Consider This: If over the next month you spent 80% of your time removing or reducing the things that consume or deplete you, your time will be well spent.
Coaching Action:
Make a list of your “Time and Energy Drains” or the things you really need to start saying “No” to. Once you have them written on paper, you can rid your life of them, reduce the amount of time you spend on them or stop engaging at all.
Coaching Question: What do I need to remove from my life so I can move forward again with greater ease?
